Turn-key Ready Plants
AT plants are turn-key ready plants with consistent application of both economical and ecological cycle principles.
All products and intermediate products can internally and externally either be refined or brought to market. The existing ecological advantages of biodiesel compared to mineral diesel such as the reduced amount of particulates, elimination of sulfur and an equalized carbon dioxide balance, will create market advantages for biodiesel in the future, particularly with environments where stronger quality standards are being introduced (key word: sulfur-free diesel fuel).

Under environmental and agricultural aspects, the production of biodiesel is a reasonable alternative to petro-diesel.
It is expected that stricter rules and regulations will considerably increase fossil fuel prices. Significantly lower environmental threats during production, storage, transportation and combustion of biodiesel improves the protection of our atmosphere and guarantees the protection of soil, ground water, lakes and rivers.

The limitation of the energy resource “mineral oil” will lead medium-term to a tremendous increase in raw oil prices. Therefore, the construction and operation of a methyl ester plant offers an interesting investment alternative along with the opportunity of bringing in high long-term profits.

Comparing biodiesel to petro-diesel
Biodiesel produced in an AT biodiesel plant does naturally adhere to the DIN EN 14214 and can therefore be used efficiently for today’s existing diesel engine technology. AT’s biodiesel can be used in all diesel engine types (combustion chamber, direct injection and common rail engines). It also can be mixed with petro-diesel in any ratio. The exhausts of biodiesel contain significantly less particulate emissions and no carcinogenic compounds.

Conditional on being sulfur-free, biodiesel particularly qualifies for reducing harmful emissions in oxidation catalysts. Biodiesel enables the unrestricted use of oxidation catalysts due to its low sulfur ( 0.001%) and phosphor ( 10 ppm) contents.

Further advantages are its naturally four times higher lubricity and thus the excellent ignitability. The balanced oxygen content of Biodiesel (11%) leads to a combustion that is smooth and linked with lowest emissions (no particulate emissions and less harmful substances).

Its biodegradability of 21 days makes Biodiesel an ecological super fuel. As a regenerative fuel, biodiesel will be infinitely available.

Environmental Compatibility
The environmental compatibility of biodiesel made from plant oils can be summarized as follows:

  1. During agricultural generation:
Expansion of crop rotation, erosion control, deep loosening of soil (longer ground coverage)
  2. During production:
    Exhalation-free and emission-free conversion, no unusable by-products.
  3. During transportation and storage:
Biodegradable (water hazard class 1) and non-flammable
  4. During combustion:
The carbon dioxide emissions from engine combustion are neutral, i.e. the carbon dioxide emissions equal precisely the quantity of carbon dioxide the plants have taken from the atmosphere to form plant material (key word: photosynthesis).

Thus, the carbon dioxide emissions don’t have any effects on climate. By using biodiesel, the total global carbon dioxide emissions are reduced and the threat to the global climate by the greenhouse effect is decreased.

In the meantime, political decisions in the European Union have been made to use biodiesel as an additive to sulfur-free diesel fuels in order to compensate petro-diesel’s technical combustion disadvantages (drastic loss of lubricity).

An admixture, already practiced in France and Italy, has been regulated by law in the European Union. Due to this regulation, an additional market for up to 2.5 million tons per year has been opened.
